Mustang Cat is actively hiring Caterpillar Heavy Equipment Technicians (Experienced) for Shop Service and Field Service positions.
As a Cat Heavy Equipment Mechanic, your primary responsibility is to determine the status of services needed for various heavy and light construction equipment and perform the necessary repairs and maintenance to restore the equipment to proper operation. This includes set-up, repair, service, diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and installation of replacement parts on Caterpillar diesel-powered heavy equipment. This is a skilled service mechanic position working independently and/or with guidance from service mentors in a service shop setting while field technicians work out of a company-provided field service truck, performing at a variety of customer locations and service shops.

Caterpillar Heavy Equipment Technician Position Requirements:
-
- Must own proper tools to perform necessary repairs
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Working knowledge of transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, and fuel systems with a strong understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
- Previous earthmoving mechanic work or military experience with Caterpillar or other competitor brands
- Ability to demonstrate technical, mechanical, and troubleshooting abilities to define and perform necessary repairs using Cat ET
Strongly Preferred Experience for Caterpillar Heavy Equipment Technicians:

- Experience with welding fabrication, arc welding, metal inert gas welding, arc gouging, and use of an oxyacetylene torch
- Technical experience with hydraulic pumps, valves, and motors
- Cat ET or other competitor troubleshooting software systems
- Earthmoving equipment service and maintenance training through accredited technical schools, equipment dealerships, or manufacturer training
Cat Heavy Equipment Technician/Mechanic levels and compensation rates are determined by skill set, knowledge, and experience.
