Mustang Cat and the Houston Texans Host Pep Rally

As part of the Special Teams for Special Needs partnership between Mustang Cat and the Houston Texans, a pep rally with the citizens of Brookwood Community took place on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014.

The event included appearances from Houston Texans’ tight end Ryan Griffin, TORO – the mascot and Texans cheerleaders for fun and games with the Brookwood citizens.

“This is a great opportunity, it gets the players out here and it gives the folks at Brookwood an opportunity to see players and cheerleaders up close,” said Brad Tucker, president at Mustang Cat. “The Texans have been great supporters, and we’re thankful to have this partnership to help raise funds for the citizens at Brookwood. This is a great way to give back to the community.”

The Special Teams for Special Needs sponsorship benefits individuals struggling with mental and physical challenges. Each time the special teams unit of the Houston Texans scores a touchdown, field goal or an extra point, funds are set aside by Mustang Cat for a charitable donation to Brookwood.

Game day patrons are notified about Special Teams for Special Needs during the “What to Watch” segment via the video board at NRG Stadium at each Houston Texans home game. During the last home game, a final tally of points scored and the funds to be donated will be displayed. After the season, Mustang Cat and the Houston Texans will present Brookwood leaders with a check for the total amount donated from the Special Teams for Special Needs partnership.

Brookwood, a nonprofit residential facility and vocational program for functionally disabled adults, is located in Brookshire, Texas, about 40 miles west of downtown Houston.
